Gayana Perth 2016
Gayana is an Indonesian culture and arts festival that was hosted by PPIA (Indonesian student organization) Perth. The first Gayana started in 2014 and following the success that they had in the past, PPIA came up with the third Gayana. Other than showcasing the diversity of Indonesia's culture, proceeds from Gayana's ticket sales will be donated to one of the charity partners that they have chosen.
The whole event was quite entertaining and organised, especially with great range of Indonesian food that were available at the night. I bought 3 containers of cilok which is an Indonesian street food made with a blend of all purpose flour, tapioca, pepper, garlic and shrimp. Another delight was the sate padang, the specialised satay from Padang, West Sumatra. I was really looking forward to the spicy sauce which was made from rice flour mixed with beef broth, ginger, garlic, coriander, turmeric, cumin, curry powder, salt and galangal root.
Unfortunately the sound system didn't work as expected for some of the bands. Hubby said his bass' amp died when he was playing and the drummer couldn't hear anything at the back. Each musical instruments and equipment worked well for the biggest act of the night: NAIF Band.
